About Us

Hootchie Mama was created by Sarah Howarth in 2010 and is run by herself & her husband, Jim.  They are joined by Katie who works part time for them at the workshop.

Sarah lives and works in West Cornwall having given up a successful career in London to have children. The move has enabled Sarah to get back to her sewing machine on a daily basis while being at home for her children - from whom she takes lots of inspiration. And they are a captive audience for her to test her children's range on!

Although not from a design or textiles background, Sarah has always had a passion for crafts and in particular fabric. This love turned her hobby into her business and after some encouragement from local crafters, Sarah started selling her accessories at local craft markets in Cornwall.

After a major re-branding exercise with help from the ladies at Shabby Cow (www.shabbycow.com), Sarah went from homely handmade to Hootchie Mama! Hootchie Mama now operates from it's own workshop in Redruth where oilcloth and retro design fabrics are available by the metre - Unit 1, 10 Chapel Street, Redruth, TR15 2DB.
